This is the most anticipated post in my newsletter, which is probably why you’ve subscribed. So as promised, here I am with everything I did to get my first ghostwriting client from X.
A little bit of overview—the clients are inbound. It all started with helping for free, and then I converted them into paid clients.
I used to do cold DMs, but I am not too good with it, which is why I decided to quit it and solely focus on inbound.
The email is going to be a bit detailed and longer than usual.
Offer and my ideal clients
What should I sell if I do not have an offer? So before I started doing anything, I needed an offer. But as someone completely new to X, I had no idea how much I should price my offers.
So what I did was take help from,
Friends
ChatGPT
Fellow creators
They suggested me,
To keep the prices low initially
Keep 2-3 plans for flexibility
Think from clients POV too
Listening to their suggestions, I decided to keep two plans for my clients and price them a bit low. As two of the clients have already accepted my offer, I believe the plans are priced perfectly.
After the offer, I needed my ideal persona.
What do I mean by that?
I charge around $300–500 for ghostwriting and $50–100 for X-growth consulting. So if I target Indian or African clients for most of them, the amount will be big.
That is why I need to target those who can afford the price, basically Europeans, Americans, and Middle Easterners.
A game plan
I couldn’t just go, do whatever I wanted, and attract my possible clients, right?
For that, I needed a game plan.
Here is what I did:
Started following ghostwriters.
Analyzed how they operate.
Followed big accounts.
Spend time in their comments looking for possible clients.
Grow my account to build authority and get results.
Hopped on calls with people who are already killing on X.
Asked questions related to my goal.
I always had a target monthly amount of $2000, and step-by-step, I am heading towards that.
Showing off my results
After I had a plan and an offer, it was time to attract clients. As I said earlier, I was fed up with cold DMs, so my sole focus was inbound.
But how do you attract inbound leads?
By showing off, simple.
I showed off my
Followers
Impressions
Engagement
And simply added one CTA in the comments of my posts.
DMs were loaded with queries.
Free help and testimonials
People love free help, so I took advantage of it.
I helped everyone who came to me, providing tips that actually brought them results.
As I said before, looking at their profile, I knew if they could afford my service or not. If they can, I told them that I can help them go from this to this if I work with them.
I made sure the offer excites them at the same time is is realistic.
And boom!
They accepted my offer.
For those who were not able to take my service, I asked them if my tips helped them and if they could give me testimonials.
So win-win in both cases.
I use those testimonials to acquire more clients.
Boom!
Job done; paid clients obtained.
Now it is all about bringing them results.
My target was to overdeliver, and that is exactly what I did.
I promised one client 200 followers and 100k+ impressions, and we already hit 300 and 90k impressions in just 2 weeks.
And we just post one post a day.
So now you’ve got it. My secret sauce.
Go implement.
